Kathleen “Katie” Gormley

Born March 15, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2012. Katie lived most of her life in Brookline.  Beloved wife of the late Joseph Gormley; loving mother of James (Cindy) Gormley, Joseph (Jonel) Gormley, John (Diana) Gormley, Cathy (David) Matko, and Laurie (James) Kelly; grandmother of Tawnya, Sami, Jamie, Joey, Joshua, John, Jacob, Ty, Reese, Kiara, Jay, Harry, and Kayla; and great-grandmother of Hudson, Bohdi, and Emma Lynn. Katie enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, chinese food, ice cream, reading, and music. One of her favorite recent memories, was her time spent at Bethel Park Retirement Community, where she formed a Christmas Choir with the wonderful new friends she made there. Katie was a kind and loving woman who, although claimed to be shy, could easily make conversation with a stranger and end up making a friend.  She will be remembered for gracefully preserving through the hardships of her life while always putting the needs of her children before her own. She will be greatly missed.  Memorial Services will be held on Friday, August 17, 2012 at 12:00pm at North Gate Church, 237 Westview Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15229.
